Linea Recta - the directness of drawing (de directheid van tekenen)

Linea Recta shows a diversity in the Dutch art of drawing with 12 artists.

Aimée Terburg's Objectmata drawings are shaded under preconditions: design, eraser or ruler are not allowed. Every decision in this time-absorbing, meticulous work that seems machine printed, has a consequence. Slowly she builds her constructions on paper, suggesting a snapshot in time on the tipping point of spatial illusion.

         Dutch drawing artists:

Robbie Cornelissen, Laura van Eik, Ingrid Greijn, Annemarie Havinga, Kim Habers, Rosemin Hendriks,
Erik Odijk, Janina Schipper, Rik Smits, Aimée Terburg, Witte Wartena, Mathilde van Wijnen

         Curator Joost Slijpen
CBK Emmen, De Fabriek - Ermerweg 88b, 7812 BG Emmen (NL)
         Open: Wednesday - Sunday, 13 - 17.00 hr

Linea Recta
is an exhibition about drawing. Drawing has always been a essential element of the visual arts. In the past drawings were considered scetches or studies, nowadays the art of drawing has evolved into an autonomous discipline of the visual arts.

The subtitle 'the directness of drawing' refers to the straight methode of action. This is essential for the discipline of drawing. It is a search, searching for form. Carefully with a thin line or ferm with conviction; drawing is shading with a pencil, scratching with a pen or even cutting with a knife. The art of drawing is diverse. With 12 participating artists 'Linea Recta' shows a view on this diversity.
