The exhibition ´FORMEEL & FERM' of me and Riki Mijling at Kunstlokaal №8 in Jubbega (NL) is still open this weekend: November 12 & 13 between 12 and 18 hr.

I will be present on the last day: Sunday November 13th between 16 - 18 hr.

Birgit Speulman and Marcel Prins of Kunstlokaal №8 invite 2 artists for a duo exhibition 6 times a year. I am really happy with their choice of exhibiting Riki Mijling her sculptures and my paintings:

The dialogue about space in FORMEEL & FERM is contemplative. Where the contrast of monochrome and frozen movement in paint gives the illusion of depth and 'opens' the wall, the combination and frozen movement in volumes or outlines, shape the space. The inner dialogues of the works of art speak with eachother as well. This triggers walking around, trying different viewing angles, taking another look.
A subtitle could be: 'How the rectangle is questioned in different dimensions'.

Having my first Solo Show 'Both Sides Now' in the Main and Second Gallery at Gray Contemporary in Houston Texas was wonderful. Meeting the gallerist Mel Dewees and Elizabeth Dewees in real, being present there at the opening reception and doing artist talks for two groups of a Houston gallery art tour: it was all a real joy.

As it was my first trip to the US, experiencing the iconography of the USA was impressive on all levels. The immensive 'empty' nature, towns and villages I saw during the roadtrip through Texas, contrasted by living in the dynamic, unzoned Houston; the interaction of the mental images I had of the US (created from an early age on by American history, art, novels, comic books, movies, television series and news, etc) with experiencing and seeing it in real, resulted in making a postcard series in (for now digital) photos.

In Paris (FR) I enjoyed participating in the Art Fair Salon Réalités Nouvelles 2016. It was the 70th edition of this yearly international art fair where for a week only geometric art is shown. Noticeable was the platform they built this way. I met a lot of loyal visitors who knew a lot about 'art construit' and met (new) colleagues.
The Salon keeps building its platform by selecting starting young French artists and new (international) artists to broaden the aspect of contemporary geometric art.
